A busy family is seeking a part time respite provider to provide care and transportation for a quiet 7-year-old boy with Down syndrome, Autism, and complex communication needs. The position can offer up to 20 -25 hours per week or more, consisting of morning trips and/or afternoon trips and/or after-school care, depending on the candidate's schedule and availability. Prior experience with special needs is appreciated but not required. Specialized training will be provided. Will need to pass a background check. A vehicle and good driving record is required. Hourly wages will be supplemented with monthly stipend. The position will start immediately with flexible hours and training, with a more consistent schedule as of September 1st.
Range of hours/week: Roughly 20-25 hours/week.

Special care needs? Yes. Hi! I am an intelligent, outgoing, 12 year old girl with Autism. My mom is a single mom and doesn’t get a break. I don’t know why she needs a break, I’m practically a teenager now! I would love to hang out with someone who also likes movies, laser tag, playing basketball, swimming, doing arts and crafts and going to the zoo. It would be great if we could do stuff on a Friday or Saturday night or on a weekend day. We could have so much fun!

Special care needs? Yes. A family in DeForest is looking for a caring person to work with their 19-year old daughter as a respite provider and/or personal care worker. This young woman is interested in cooking shows, going online, and spending time in nature. She is friendly, witty, and fun to be around. A background in direct care for adults or children is preferred, as this woman requires assistance for some of her personal cares. These cares would include assistance with transfers from a wheelchair to a bed, toilet, or bath, assistance in bathing and dressing, and assistance in light cleaning tasks. Training for these tasks and any others will be provided. A car is required for this job as DeForest is not served by any Madison bus lines.

Family looking for occasional respite care for outings with an awesome nine year old little girl with autism who loves swimming, the pet store, Eugster’s farm and the zoo. Great experience for student or professional in Speech, OT or special education field. Availability a few afternoon hours on a weekend day at least once/twice a month is desired. Respite care can be done by multiple providers, but establishing a relationship is key.

Two sisters with special needs, both wear diapers and need help with changing.  Both have very little verbal communication but enjoy having books read to them, watching videos, playing games, going outside and on outings in the community.  Older child has frequent seizures and must be monitored to prevent falls.  Basic knowledge of Spanish preferred.  There is a small dog in the home.  Providers will be approved through Community Living Alliance to provide personal cares, as well as approved for respite care through Fiscal Assistance of Dane County.

We have a wonderful six-year-old boy who has Down syndrome who needs some assistance with getting ready before school in the mornings. We are looking for somebody to come to our house at 7 AM finish getting him and his brother ready for school and then walk them up to the school to drop them off. His brother is eight years old and delightful and will keep you occupied with creative activities. The position would require you being hired by Community Living Alliance as a personal care worker and then we would pay you additional money for taking care of his brother. We are looking for someone with childcare experience, preferably with kids with special needs. Hours are Mon - Fri 7 am to 8:30am, with possibility of occasional weekend or evening hours if desired.

No. We are looking for an energetic respite provider for a well-behaved 8 year-old who is high functioning.   He is very communicative and has received praise from school for his courtesy despite his social diffidence and shyness caused by his Autism. We are seeking someone very friendly, active, and kind, to take him under their wing and introduce him to fun activities. Whether it is sports, visits to the library or museum, or just playing board games, reading books or watching children's programs on TV, we want him to engage in life outside of his small family and be exposed to new people and life experiences. Our middle daughter has Down Syndrome and a complex medical history, including a g-tube. Experience with children with special needs and some basic knowledge of sign language and other communication modalities (NovaChat, etc) preferred. Great position for a speech, OT, or PT student looking for some experience and extra cash. Candidate will be paid directly through Fiscal Assistance, Inc. for working with middle child. No. We are seeking a tutor/respite provider to support our 10th grader with autism after school for general care and to help him complete his homework assignments.  Duties would include meeting him at our home, preparing simple meals, gathering his assignments, and helping him complete them.  Strong academic skills are essential.  Available shifts (which may be filled by more than one provider) would occur between 3:30 and 7 pm weekdays and flexible times on weekends.  Average hours per week = 10.  Shifts will take place at our home on the near East side approximately 2 miles from UW campus, located on a bus route and bicycle trail.
